吉田直树接受 4Gamer 采访时透露了许多关于《最终幻想16》的新情报。在谈到游戏的战斗系统时,吉田表示本作的召唤兽战斗将非常壮观,而且召唤兽之间的对战将包含不同的玩法设计。据吉田介绍,之前公开的预告用到的片段,虽然也有一些是过场动画,但多数镜头都不是预渲染场景,而是实时演算的。预告后半的召唤兽对战大部分都是游戏里可玩的战斗。本作设计的目标是让玩家自己控制召唤兽,进行「最壮观」的 boss 战。本作的战斗将会有三种不同规模的战斗体验,一是主角与常规人类尺寸单位的战斗,二是主角以常规人类尺寸与巨大召唤兽的战斗,三是操控召唤兽与其它召唤兽进行战斗。吉田称,本作将充分利用 PS5 的性能,让三种不同规模的战斗体验之间能够无缝、高速地衔接,无需加载。此外,游戏中不同召唤兽之间的战斗都有着不同的专门设计,比如这一场召唤
